FAQs
Will Great Start Scholarships go to individual families based on income?
Yes. Just like how the Child Care Assistance Program and Early Learning Scholarships operate now, families will apply for funds to pay for child care and early education.
Is Great Start Scholarships a third program to help families pay for child care?
No. If fully funded, Great Start Scholarships will be one program with an improved experience for families and for child care and early education providers. The state will figure out how to maximize Child Care Assistance Program and Early Learning Scholarships funds so families and providers don’t have to.
Is this the same as Great Start Compensation?
No. Great Start Scholarships will help families afford quality child care. The purpose of the Great Start Compensation Support Payment Program is to increase compensation for early childhood educators. For more information about Great Start Compensation Support Payments, visit the program webpage.
