The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) Policy and Performance Team at the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is launching the MFIP Teen Parent Project. The program has partnered with MAYA Consulting to help engage teen parents and strengthen how MFIP supports them. The goal is to ensure the voices and experiences of teen parents are centered in how MFIP services are shaped moving forward.

    • Use insights from these events to help build a framework for better services.

    • Share learnings back with participants in follow-up sessions, known as "loop back" meetings, to confirm we captured their input accurately.

A Whole Family Approach puts families' voices at the center of solution making and program design. It aims to enable and support whole family approaches and responses to families’ challenges that encompass all aspects of their lives.

    A whole family approach enables:

    • Caregivers' experiences to be heard and affirmed
    • Families to get the support they need to build toward the life they dream of
    • Children to get what they need to grow and thrive, and to know they can lean on their family and community to feel safe and cared for
    • Workers to listen to families voices and respond to inequities in experiences and outcomes, allowing services to be more customized and culturally relevant.
