SSIS Time Entry Web App Activity Log Transcript 2
Introduction
In the second release of the Time Entry Web App, we changed the landing from the time entry screen to the
new Activity Log. Here, you can open the time entry screen, as well as view and sort time records submitted
through the web app or SSIS in a grid. You can also edit draft entries and entries submitted through the web
app. Working with draft and submitted entries is covered in a separate video. Let’s go ahead a dive into the
Activity Log.
Activity Log filters
The first two filters you can use are the Workgroup and Activity view options. The Workgroup drop-down
includes only the workgroups where you’re an assigned worker. By default, no workgroup is selected, so you’ll
see all time records based on the option selected in Activity view.
The Activity view determines the date range used to display your time records. By default, the drop-down is set
to “By Period”, but you can also choose “Today”, “Last 7 Days”, “Last 30 Days” or “Custom”. The “By Period” is
based on your agency’s settings.
To reset either drop-down, use the X button to the right of the field.
Below the filtering options, you’ll see two sections labeled “Total” and “Current View”. “Total” refers to the
number of hours based on your choice in the Activity view drop-down. “Current view” displays how many hours
and minutes have been recorded in the time entries for that period.
Now that we’ve filtered the time records, let’s look at the grid and display options.
Activity Log display options
We’ll start with the grid itself, focusing first on the vertical button bar along the left-hand side.
Vertical button bar
If you click on the “hamburger” icon at the top of the menu, you’ll get four options:
• Expand
• Pin left
• Pin Right
• Unpin
Notice that “Pin Left” isn’t available, since the menu is already on the left side of the grid.

We’re going to skip Expand and look at the Pin options first. Pin left and Pin right indicate where on the screen
the menu will be on the grid section. In both cases, the menu stays in place while you scroll left or right on the
results.
Unpin, on the other hand, moves the menu all the way to the right of the grid and is only visible when you scroll
all the way to the right. Let’s go ahead and pin the menu to the left again.
Look at the buttons below the hamburger – notice how they’re all just three dots. Clicking on any of the buttons
opens a menu with the available actions for the corresponding item in the grid. Let’s go back up and select
“Expand”.
Selecting Expand changes the lower portion to show icons with the actions available for the corresponding
entry. For records in a draft state, you’ll see “Edit Entry” or “Delete”. If you choose “Delete”, you will get a
message asking you to confirm before the system deletes the record. Quick tip: if you want to edit the entry, you
can double click on it in the grid to open the time entry screen.
There are two possible sets of choices you’ll see for submitted entries, depending on where you submitted
them.
If an entry was created and saved in SSIS, your only option will be “View Record”. However, if you submitted the
entry through the web app, you’ll also have the option to “Edit Entry”. Quick tip: if you only need to view the
entry, you can double-click the entry in the grid. This applies to all submitted entries, whether submitted via the
web app or SSIS.
When viewing an entry in the web app, it will slide into view from the right side of the screen. To expand it to
the full browser window, use the button with the four arrows pointing out diagonally next to the button to close
it.
Grid columns
Now that we’ve reviewed the button bar and how to view, edit, or delete entries, let’s look at the columns in the
grid.
By default, the grid displays the following columns: State, Activity Date, Workgroup, Service, Hr: Min, Activity,
Regarding, and Purpose. You can change the sort order in the grid by clicking on any of the columns to open a
menu with the choices ascending, descending, or reset to default.
To add or remove columns, we need to look at the buttons above the grid. Let’s change focus to the section
above the grid, starting with the Search field.
Search
The Search bar is available to help you locate specific time entries by entering relevant keywords. The Search bar
currently searches most fields you can add to the grid except for Regarding and Active Efforts.

Additionally, the “Notes” field is not searchable and is not an option to add to the grid.
If you’ve entered search criteria and want to clear the field, just select the X button to the right of the field.
Next, we’ll look at the buttons you can use to customize the grid view.
Custom view buttons
The first of those buttons is the View button, which allows you to add or remove columns from the grid view.
When adding columns, they may be displayed all the way to the right end of the column list, so you may need to
scroll to see it.
Next is the View Default Columns button, indicated by a box with four columns as the icon. If you’ve added
columns but want to go back to the default columns only, this is the button to use.
To the right you’ll find the Reset All column sorting button used to remove any sorting you’ve applied to all
columns in the grid. Note that you can also reset sorting by selecting “Reset” from the menu when clicking on a
specific column.
Next, there is a Card view button that changes from grid table view to a more mobile-friendly version. In fact,
card view is the default when you open the web app on your mobile device. Notice that the buttons available
use icons similar to those used in the vertical button bar in table view.
Last is the Expand Activity Log to full screen. This button is the same as the button next to the Notes field,
allowing you more space to review the grid, especially helpful if you’ve added several columns to the grid view.
Expanding the Activity Log to full screen also allows you to see 10 entries at a time, vs. the five entries in regular
view. Note that this option is not available if you’re in card view.
Finishing up
That’s it for the Activity Log in the Time Entry Web App.
For documentation covering the Activity Log, go to the SSIS Worker Documentation site and find “SSIS Time
Entry Web App”.
If you have any problems, contact your mentor or supervisor first. If you’re a mentor or supervisor, scroll to the
bottom of the screen and click “Contact Us” to send an email to the SSIS Help Desk.
