SSIS Time Entry Web App Drafts and Submitted Records Transcript 2

Introduction

In this video, we’ll cover the updates to the Time Entry Web App that allow you to create and edit draft time

entries as well as editing entries submitted through the Web App. We’ll look at draft entries first, then editing

entries submitted with the Web App.

Draft time entries

Let’s start by creating a new time entry using the Add Time button in the top right corner. As we change fields or

add text, the web app will automatically save a draft 10 seconds after an update. Each time the web app saves

the draft, a dialogue box will display showing the time since the last save occurred.

When you start making more changes, that message changes to “Editing” until you pause again for 10 seconds.

If you need to save the draft manually, you can scroll to the bottom of the time entry screen and choose “Save

as Draft”. There, you also have the option to either “Delete draft” or “Submit”.

If you choose “Save as draft”, you’ll get a message indicating that the draft will be saved for 30 days. Here you’ll

also have the choice to “Create a new Time entry” or “View Activity Log”. If you simply close the message with

the “X”, the web app will stay on the current entry screen.

Choosing “Delete draft” will display a message confirming whether you truly want to delete the entry. Let’s go

ahead and save the draft so we can go back to the Activity Log to see how it appears in the grid.

Working with draft entries

In the grid, you’ll see the new entry with the state “Draft” indicated by a clock icon and the word “draft” in the

State column. Notice also that under the icon is an expiration date. Draft entries expire 30 days from the date

you started the entry. That’s important to remember, since making changes to a draft does NOT change the

expiration date.

To access and edit the draft, you can either double-click on it or use the button in the vertical button bar and

choose “View Draft”. To delete, click the three dots in the vertical bar and choose “Delete draft”. If you attempt

to delete a draft, you will get a warning asking you to confirm the deletion.

Now that we’ve covered drafts, let’s talk about submitted entries.

Working with submitted entries

Similar to draft entries, the “State” column will indicate the entry has been submitted with the word

“Submitted” and a checkmark to the right of the word. To view the entry, click on the button with the three

vertical dots. This time, you’ll see the option “View Entry.” Note that you can also double click on the entry in

the grid to view it.

When viewing an entry, it will appear on the right half of the screen with the scroll bar along the right. You can

scroll down to see the full entry or use the button with the four arrows pointing outwards diagonally. This

expands the entry to the full width of the browser window. To collapse the entry back to the right side, click the

button again.

When you’re ready to close the entry, use the X in the top right corner. If it’s along the right half of the screen,

you’ll also see a “Close” button at the bottom right when you scroll to the bottom.

You can also edit submitted drafts under one specific condition: the entry was submitted using the web app and

has not been edited in SSIS. Let’s look at two entries, one submitted in SSIS, the other in the web app.

To determine whether you can edit an entry or not, you need to look at the options available in the vertical

button bar. Notice that the last entry in the grid only has the “View Entry” option. This tells you that the entry

was submitted in SSIS, so to make edits, you’d need to log in to SSIS.

If you look at the options for the second or third entry, a button to “Edit Entry” is available, indicating that it was

submitted via the web app. Selecting “Edit Entry” opens the time entry screen, allowing you to make changes as

necessary.

Make note, though, that the web app does NOT automatically save as you’re making changes. To save the entry,

scroll to the bottom of the screen and choose “Save Changes”. To exit the entry without saving changes, select

“Activity log” at the top of the window. You’ll get a message warning you that unsubmitted change on the

current form will be lost. To continue without saving your changes, select “OK”, or use “Cancel” to return to the

time entry and make your changes.

Finishing up

That’s it for drafts and submitted entries in the web app.

For documentation covering drafts and submitted entries, go to the SSIS Worker Documentation site and find

“SSIS Time Entry Web App”.

If you have any problems, contact your mentor or supervisor first. If you’re a mentor or supervisor, scroll to the

bottom of the screen and click “Contact Us” to send an email to the SSIS Help Desk.

Thanks for watching!
